What's the difference between a jumbo jet and a jar of mayonnaise? Not much, really. Both are complex systems; emergent properties which quality depends on the quality of the relationships between their parts.
The same can be said of company culture. When there are unhealthy relationships in the workplace (such as autocratic leadership), your "mayonnaise" will leave a bitter taste in the mouth.
